Students worked in teams to construct structures representing big numbers while meeting specific building guidelines. They were challenged to demonstrate their knowledge of the Base-ten System and place value during construction.

STEM Challenge: "Can We Save Fred?"

STEM Cooperative Challenge:  

"Can We Save Fred?"

Teams of students had to work together and cooperate to save Fred a worm that was trapped on his capsized boat while visiting the Great Lakes.  Fred remembered his life preserver, but it was stuck under his boat.  The students were challenged to put Fred safely into his life preserver without directly using their hands.
